By the time the bride-to-be finally gets around to the nitty-gritty details of her wedding planning, she is always exhausted. Don't quit before you choose the songs for the various important parts of your wedding ceremony and reception. These should be special and make memories to last a lifetime.

You will need to choose a song for your first dance as a couple, the father and daughter dance, the mother and son dance, the cake cutting, the bouquet toss, the garter toss, and the last dance. Don't be intimidated by this long list; you do not have to make specific selections for all of these songs, but you should at least put some serious thought into your first dance song. For the rest, a too-busy bride can rely on the expert advice of the DJ or wedding coordinator. The first dance song kicks off the reception party and kicks off your marriage-start the dancing off on the right foot. Your first dance song should be intimate and romantic and something that has special meaning for you both. All eyes and ears will be on you. Old favorites are "At Last," "Unforgettable," and "It Had to Be You." Elvis Presley's "I Can't Help Falling in Love with You" is also very popular. |

Potential song samples for the mother-son dance are "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong and "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban.

Fun last dance songs include Michael Buble "Save the Last Dance for Me" or "I've Got the World on a String" by Frank Sinatra. If you would prefer to end the night on a more romantic note, plug in a song like "Save the Best for Last" by Vanessa Williams or "God Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts. "Closing Time" is always good for a laugh. Your children will one day ask "What was your wedding song?" You don't want to answer "I really don't remember." Put careful consideration into the song you choose and be proud of your selection. |
